Negli anni Cinquanta, in Texas, giovani e vecchi si consumano in un`esistenza senza scopo. Due ragazzi tentano di uscire dal torpore attraverso alcune avventure sessuali: il primo con una signora appassita; il secondo con la ragazza piú carina del villaggio. Intanto il loro vecchio mentore, sente che tutto cambia e che ormai è fuori gioco. Il film ha avuto un seguito nel 1990.
