A Rome en 1599, la jeune Béatrice attend dans une cellule le moment de son exécution. Son crime est d’avoir commandité l’assassinat de son père, Francesco Cenci, noble tyrannique et incestueux. La sentence provoque l’ire du peuple qui voit en la « Belle parricide » la martyre d’une société arrogante et hypocrite. Mais derrière l’icône se cache un personnage complexe qui a su manipuler les sentiments du serviteur Olimpio pour arriver à ses fins.
