Gli uomini di una stazione scientifico-militare americana nel Polo Nord rinvengono un disco volante ed accanto un essere extraterrestre imprigionati nel ghiaccio. Il professor Carrington vorrebbe scongelare la ''cosa'' per sottoporla ad accurati esami scientifici, ma i militari si oppongono temendo il pericolo. Mentre si discute sul da farsi, un soldato di guardia alla creatura, inavvertitamente provoca lo scongelamento della ''cosa'' che riprende vita, manifestando in pieno la sua aggressività. Un arto che gli è stato troncato di netto da un cane da slitta, rivela che i tessuti della creatura sono simili ad un vegetale (una specie di ''super carota'' come viene definito), e che per sopravvivere deve nutrirsi di sangue.

Das hat nichts mit dem Blob zu tun, das ist DAS DING AUS EINER ANDEREN WELT. Nach diesem Klassiker ist das Remake mit Kurt Russel entstanden.

Besten Sorte.

Dieser Film, entstanden nach der Novelle "who goes there?" von John Campbell Jr., ist eine perfekte Mischung aus SF und Horrorfilm, spannend und fesselnd. Es handelt sich hier um das Original nach welchem John Carpenter 1982 sein grossartiges Remake "the thing" realisierte. Das Original ist wie das Remake grossartig und äusserst empfehlenswert.
