Sherlock und Konsorten im 21JH! Genial gemacht! Cumberbatch spielt den Sherlock perfekt! Auch sonst tolle Schauspieler und spannende Fälle. Der Humor fehlt natürlich auch nicht. Leider nur 3 Fälle, aber jeder geht 90 Minuten. Warte schon sehnsüchtig auf die nächste Staffel. PS: Auf englisch schauen!

Being a fan of the books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, I was pleasantly surprised by this BBC short series. The basic premise of moving Sherlock Holmes to modern times made me sceptical, considering how much Victorian London itself was part of the character. But the execution is magnificent. The characters are recognisable and loveable, the show isn't frantically edgy but keeps its class, and even the humour reminds of the sort found in the original novels and short stories. Add to that the splendid portrayal by Benedict Cumberbatch, and you've got three really enjoyable 90-minute episodes. The references to the original cases, though, often felt tacked on and didn't really make any sense in the context of the actual cases. I might have preferred it if they went for all original stories. But it is a great show as it is, nonetheless, and I'm looking forward to the already confirmed second 3-episode season that is going to air in autumn of 2011.
