Viel war über die angebliche politische Sprengkraft dieses russischen Films zu hören, der den Golden Globe gewonnen hat, für einen Oscar als Bester ausländischer Film nominiert war und in Russland heftig angefeindet wird - und doch hat die schrecklichste und traurigste Szene von "Leviathan" nichts mit Politik zu tun, sondern mit einem Liebesverrat.

Als Vaterlandsbeschmutzer wurde Andrej Swjaginzew in Russland für "Leviathan" beschimpft - die Geschichte eines Mannes, der von korrupten Politikern, Schlägern und Klerikalen um seine Existenz gebracht wird. Ein albtraumhaft schöner Film.
