Suddenly - Tan de repente (2002)

Marcia, a frumpy lingerie sales girl from Buenos Aires, lives a solitary life of dreary routine after having been dumped by her boyfriend. But soon her dreams of romance are unexpectedly answered when a pair of feisty leather-jacketed, crop-haired lesbian punks, Lenine and Mao, accost her on the street.

The three of them hijack a taxi and head off for the coast to visit Lenine's eccentric Aunt Blanca, who shares her house with the hapless Felipe and uptight Delia. These oddball characters develop strong bonds, but as liaisons form and break up, the dynamics of the group shift and personalities reveal themselves in varied and surprising ways.

Directed by one of Argentinean cinema's rising talents, Diego Lerman, and based on a story by Cesar Aira, this quirky, bittersweet comedy is reminiscent of Jim Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise and was the winner of an impressive array of international awards.
