Stylish, futuristically surreal and a departure from director Jean Rollin`s familiar vampire territory, The Night of the Hunted is Rollin`s contribution the excess of the 1980`s horror genre, complete with plenty of sex and gore. In the not-so-distant future, the residents of a skyscraper asylum are suffering with insanity and collective amnesia. As blank-eyed inmates wander the halls and empty rooms of the "Black Tower", the tension rises... as does the body count!

In NIGHT OF THE HUNTED gibt es deutlich mehr Dialoge, als in den meisten seiner anderen Filme. Unüblich ist auch, dass der Film zum grössten Teil in einer Stadt, hauptsächlich in einer Nervenheilanstalt spielt. Und dies bedeutet (zumindest für mich): Man vermisst die sonst meist hervorragende – fast einzigartige – Atmosphäre. Leider! Naja, und da seine Filme halt selten eine wirklich tolle Story bieten... Wie üblich gibt es viel nackte Haut, hier jedoch irgendwie auch erstaunlich unerotisch. Spannung kommt kaum auf, es fliesst auch nur wenig Kunstblut. Schade.
